Over the last two years, Annatto has grown and prospered largely due to the support of our community and valued clients. At the end of the day, we realize life isn’t about what you have or what you’ve accomplished, but who you’ve lifted up and how you’ve made the world better. With that in mind, we’ve begun a new, annual tradition of gifting our skills and talents to serve others.
This year, we chose the Christian Ministry, Women of Hope Guatemala. Founded in 2012 by Giovanni and Tina Osuna, Women of Hope (WoH) is a unique ministry that weaves together business and discipleship, empowering the women of Guatemala to rise above the challenges of poverty, illiteracy, and a culture of abuse and oppression.
One of WoH’s key initiatives is to empower women through wholesome employment, allowing them to lead productive and accomplished lives. Many of the indigenous women of Guatemala are talented artisans but lack business know-how and access to sell their goods. WoH provides a safe haven where they use their skills to create beautiful jewelry, accessories, and ornaments by hand. These products are then sold online, via home shows in the United States, through wholesale accounts, and at gift shows. The profits are used to pay the women’s wages, fund WoH’s transition home, House of Hope, and fund their various feeding programs.
Our collaboration with Women of Hope began with a simple question… how can we best support your cause by utilizing our marketing and design skills? Tina immediately knew how she could put Annatto to work! Each year Tina travels to the United States to exhibit at multiple gift shows leading up to Christmas. She needed help conveying WoH’s story to her patrons. We agreed that creating collateral to quickly communicate the impactful ministry behind the beautiful beadwork was vital to moving inventory.
We began by developing a new logo for WoH’s most recent line of jewelry, the Amor Collection. With 100% of the profits from this collection going directly to WoH’s transition home, House of Hope, it was important that this line have a distinct and impactful look. Next on the list were several display items that could be used within their booth area during the gift shows. A custom banner will help their booth space stand out in the crowd and a display of easel signs profiling each artisan and her story draw the eye throughout the space. Additionally, we created a brochure explaining the mission of WoH, as well as hang tags for the products. Overall, the pieces help to create a connection with the patrons, showing the beauty of both the products and the people behind them.
WoH’s biggest event of the season, The Annual Christmas Carousel Holiday Gift Market, will be held November 29, 30, and December 1 in Raleigh, North Carolina. If you’ll be in the area, be sure to get your tickets here and stop by booth 2207. For more information about how you can support Women of Hope Guatemala please visit wohgt.org/pages/donate.
