It’s pretty common in the world of “creative” to defer to the phrase, “It’s not like we’re saving lives,” when we start to take ourselves or a project too seriously. However, that is exactly what they do at Shepherd Center every single day. Shepherd Center is a not-for-profit hospital specializing in medical treatment, research and rehabilitation for people with spinal cord injury, brain injury, multiple sclerosis, spine and chronic pain, and other neuromuscular conditions. It’s more than just a clinical place, though. At Shepherd, the mission is to help people with temporary or permanent disabilities reclaim their lives with dignity, independence, and hope.

Honestly, who wouldn’t want to have even a tiny part of such a worthy cause? When Kristin Goin, Senior Improvement Consultant, approached us about working with her and the rest of Shepherd’s Quality and Outcomes team, we enthusiastically jumped on board. Over the past year we have created infographics, reports, and signage for the hospital. Kristin was kind enough to provide insights as to why she feels investing in professional design services is essential.
